According to witnesses, the car was heading South on 25th Avenue, when a passenger started shooting at a man standing on the corner of Robert Blvd.

The victim, 21, was rushed to hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his upper body, where he later died of his injuries.

It is the city’s 17th homicide of the year.

Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant, told Global News that the victim was not known to police.

Police are urging anyone with information about the car or its passengers to dial 911, or call the confidential Info-crime line at 514-393-1133.

Brabant said it was too soon to know if the St-Michel drive-by shooting was linked to Friday’s drive-by shooting in Rivière-des-Prairies.

In that incident, a 36-year-old man who is known to police was shot to the lower body and was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Both investigations are ongoing.
